Millwall manager Neil Harris wants FA Cup fourth round tie with West Ham

Millwall boss Neil Harris is dreaming of an FA Cup fourth-round tie with rivals West Ham after his side beat Hull City 2-1 on Sunday.

Two fine finishes from substitute Shane Ferguson in the final 10 minutes sealed a comeback win for Millwall after Jon Toral had given the visitors the lead at the Den.

The victory will provide a welcome financial boost for the south London club and Harris is hoping to be drawn against West Ham - who knocked out Birmingham on Saturday.

"The TV money, the prize money, that’s important for us trying to sign a player in the transfer window," said Harris.

"I wanted to be competitive, I wanted to win at home and now I want to draw West Ham in the next round!

"They were class goals [from Ferguson]. It's what you expect from an international footballer. He has got the ability to do that.

"The belief hasn't always been there with Shane but the run of games he has had and the form he has been in has been outstanding and those two goals were befitting of winning any game.

"His confidence should be sky-high, the team's confidence should be sky-high as well. We are finding a way to win football matches.

"I think you saw the belief in the group - even when we were behind again - to come back and win the game."

In-form Hull made plenty of changes from their recent league successes but Toral’s classy 52nd-minute strike looked to have sent them through until Ferguson’s late show.

"We knew it was going to be difficult coming here,” said Hull boss Nigel Adkins. "We knew the threat was going to be set-pieces but we didn’t expect to get done by a short one.

"Ferguson has scored two excellent finishes. It’s a shame – the short corner and then an excellent free-kick – and it’s frustrating because we made some changes.

"It was good to see some of the younger players making their debuts, it’s a good experience for them.

“Robbie McKenzie, playing centre-half, it was a right battle for him. The direct nature of those long balls into [Tom] Elliott is a different type of game than he’s been used to.

"I’m pleased that will help his development and David Milinkovic playing 90 minutes of football is important for him.

“We could’ve won the game – we put ourselves in a position to go and win it, unfortunately two really good finishes have given Millwall the victory.”

I'm on about if it was at there place, we would only get the upper tier, and the proper people won't be able to get tickets.

'Past meetings with proper people', when football was proper and we were all younger
Can you imagine what it would be like if you could teleport those days into the 60k OS for a cup allocation against them?
Absolute fucking mayhem - geography, stewarding and plod control lost before it started

These days it would be little more than naughty by comparison, nasty for a few and 'dreadful' for the media reporting the fallout

I would like to see it as it goes, odd moments of retro proper football

We want them as much as they want us. If we do get them away it won't be like past meetings, where all the proper people would go Now it be all the wannabe kids dressing up for the occasion

IF it's at the London Stadium I hope they come and smash the place up - like serious structural damage.

If we did say draw them away, they’d probably only give us about 15000 tickets , l remember they gave us the whole end one year bar the bouncy castle bits and that all ended in tears ,so all we’d get is the top tier minus the two sides ,so yeah we wouldn’t get many!

Good Orsett lad is Neil Harris. Loved the Orsett Cock I believe.

Given the length of that article I'm not surprised that a one line throwaway comment is the story.

My great grandad was 'wall, as were many back then in the day, loads of them north of the river from the early days. Now they are just a load of pikeys

I really don't get the view that "it won't be allowed to happen". This draw is live on the telly immediately following tonight's match, and whatever numbers come out, that's yer lot.

There's no "putting 'em back in and trying again", as Uncle Harry once suggested, and the clubs and authorities will have to do whatever they need to do to allow the match to go ahead.

Would it be carnage? Of course it fucking would. Everyone knows it, and I really don't think either club would want the fixture, regardless of what Harris is chopsing off about. They absolutely know the capacity for large scale disorder and large scale fines and sanctions that this fixture would provide, so I reckon it'd be their worst nightmare, as well as The F.A's.

Personally, I couldn't give a fuck who we draw as long as we're at home, as with next to fuck all points, I'd have no chance of an away ticket anyway...!

Good lad Neil Harris. Who’d have thought the Championship would have two public schoolboys managing teams, both from the same school too.

Re: Millwall manager Neil Harris wants FA Cup fourth round tie with West Ham
As other posters have commented millwall wouldnt be allowed to happen

And the giant IF it did, would be trouble everywhere if it's at the london stadium and west ham would get stupid fines and real threat of games behind closed doors

West ham are finally looking stable under Pellegrini and a stupid scrap against the pikeys will ruin things. Everyone knows their lot will care more about scraps or damaging the stadium rather than the actual football.

Therefore anyone but millwall, city or liverpool home or away

Seems a loooong time ago, everyone gathering around the corner shop near The Green Man at 11am on a Sunday with a four-pack each!

Some bloke dressed up as a suicide bomber that day I seem to remember? Wasn't the brightest idea even then, and would probably invite a sniper these days!
